Happy Lunar New Year 🥟✨ | February 01, 2025

This Week's Highlight

Happy Lunar New Year to everyone celebrating!

It’s like we get a practice month—January was just a warm-up! Fun fact: Thai New Year isn’t until April, but many of us celebrate Lunar New Year too because, well, double the parties, double the dumplings!

This piece was inspired by this instagram reel that combined The Coding Train's Falling Sand tutorial with some interactivity. I decided to swap out the sand for gold coins for a little extra luck and sparkles ✨💰

What Inspires Me

After two long years, the time has come! Dan finally released the follow-up tutorial on the Wave Function Collapse: Overlapping Model. It’s a long one, so you’re in for a treat. Don’t let the technical name intimidate you—the applications are pretty amazing.

With this algorithm, you can create beautifully intricate mosaics, seamless generative patterns, mesmerizing abstract compositions, and even algorithmic architecture designs. It’s perfect for generating unique textile prints, ornamental designs, or dynamic layouts that feel both organic and structured. The creative potential is endless!

A Month of Creativity

It’s finally February 1st, which means Genuary has officially wrapped up! If you’re not familiar, Genuary is a month-long challenge in January where people create code-based art from daily prompts.

My feed has been flooded with amazing creations by artists and coders from all over. What’s been your favorite? And if you participated, how was the experience?

Until next week!
