Inching Towards 10,000 (and Still Sketching) | March 25, 2025

This Week's Highlight

This week’s sketch is called Musical Onion: a layered, spinning collection of polygons that pulse and sing as they rotate. Each ring has its own rhythm, shape, and musical note. When they align just right, they trigger sound—a soft harmony of geometry and timing.

Like an onion, it’s built in layers, from the innermost triangle to the outermost shape, each one moving at its own pace. I love how it ended up being not just visual, but also musical, turning simple collisions into sound. It’s a little hypnotic, a little weird, and very satisfying.

What Inspires Me

I first saw Traintrackr in person when I was in New York last summer—a grid of blinking LEDs quietly tracking the movement of subway trains in real time. It was mesmerizing. Like a city breathing.

What I love about it is how it turns raw, functional data into something beautiful and meditative. Each light is a signal, a rhythm, a story in motion. It shows how even the most utilitarian systems can hold a quiet kind of beauty.

Another Year Around the Sun

Yesterday was my birthday and I’m feeling especially grateful—for the time to keep creating, for the chance to keep learning, and for all of you who’ve been watching, commenting, and supporting the channel.

Our community is slowly inching towards **10,000 subscribers**, which feels surreal. It's amazing how far consistency, patience, and trust can take you—especially when you're putting things out into the void and hoping they connect.

So thank you—for tuning in, sharing the videos, and being part of this super fun and creative ride with me. I don’t take it for granted.

Here’s to more sketches, more experiments, and more layers to peel back.

Until next week!
