First Ever Q&A | September 7, 2024

This Week's Highlight

A few weeks ago, I posted on my socials asking you guys to send in some questions for my first ever Q&A and you delivered! Lots of amazing questions, so thank you 😊

In this video, I answered questions about my background, my journey so far, and my roadmap (plus of course, some fun ones)! I am enjoying this chatty format and I hope you do too! If you have more questions, feel free to send me wherever you find me online.

What Inspires Me

While working on the second part of my Quadtree series where I'll be showing you how to implement a quadtree in a flocking simulation (coming out next Tuesday 🤞), I came across some incredible work by Christian Helgeson.

In this interactive web simulation, Christian uses three.js and WebGPU, a newer web graphics API compared with older technologies like Canvas2D, to compute the simulation. I haven't dug into the details of the logic behind the code, but the result looks quite mesmerizing and worth playing around here.

Pink Rocks!

Look what came in the mail yesterday! I happened to be wearing pink for the Q&A video...it's as if I knew my copy of the Nature of Code was coming 💖💕

I've been recommending this book a lot lately, and to be clear, I’m not sponsored. I genuinely loved the first version and learned so much from it. This updated version replaces Processing examples with p5.js, making it more accessible for web-based projects. It also has an exciting new chapter on Neuroevolution!

I'm maybe preaching to the choir here, but this is one valuable resource to get your creative juices going.

You can get it on the Nature of Code website and use the code: PATTVIRA25 for a 25% off!

Until next week!
